Sentera Launches Precision Weed Management Solution - Global AgTech Initiative
Sentera, an innovative agriculture start-up specializing in scalable precision ag solutions, has announced the launch of an Early Access Program this summer. This initiative, in partnership with major agribusinesses and farmers, aims to preview Aerial WeedScout, Sentera’s advanced precision weed management solution. The Early Access Program is a strategic move to gather valuable feedback and build momentum for the 2025 commercial release of this breakthrough technology, in collaboration with key go-to-market partners.
Aerial WeedScout is a selective herbicide application service that enables a lower total use of herbicides for farmers who do not have actual precision see and spray capabilities.
Sentera uses aerial imaging (drone flight) and artificial intelligence to detect weeds and create a map to generate sprayer prescriptions for herbicide applications, with capabilities to do this with less than a 24 hour turn around time from drone flight to prescription creation.
There is also the ability to generate incremental insights surrounding plant populations and emergence and crop health with this same drone pass.
Sentera’s WeedScout offering is attempting to fill a gap based on the current short comings of precision spot spraying technologies, such as those from John Deere and Greeneye (and others below), for example.
The three shortcomings of many precision application systems today include:
